What is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
At the Westoe Practice in South Shields we recommend Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) as a powerful and invaluable tool for sustained relief from psychological and physical problems as well as assisting with eliminating the root cause of negative emotions. Within the Westoe Practice, South Shields our trained therapists use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to dramatically relieve emotional disturbances along with many physical symptoms. It often works in minutes, its results are usually long lasting, and side effects are almost always positive.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is based on impressive new discoveries involving the body's subtle energies, described as "emotional acupuncture." It is a powerful process that can help just about anyone to achieve genuine freedom from the emotions that have created problems in their lives and has been described as one of the most important breakthroughs in the area of psychology in this century. It is used successfully with thousands of people with a broad range of difficulties.
EFT contends that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. With remarkable consistency, EFT relieves symptoms by an unusual (but scientific) routine of tapping with the fingertips on a short series of points on the body that correspond to acupuncture points on the energy meridians. Where there is an imbalance, there is a corresponding blockage in the flow of energy through the meridian system.
The tapping serves to release the blockages that are created when a person thinks about or becomes involved in an emotionally disturbing circumstance. When this blockage is released, the emotions come into balance. Once balanced, the person cannot get upset about the circumstance no matter how hard they try. The memory remains but the charge is gone. Typically, the result is lasting and the person's awareness usually changes in a positive way as a natural result of the healing.
Emotional Freedom Technique is a simple and yet powerful way of assisting release of fears, phobias, anxieties, angers, addictions, and all kinds of emotional and physical issues.
How can EFT help you?
Imbalances within the body create the underlying causes of ill health. Restoring balance places the body back to the optimum condition to heal and recover.
EFT does not claim to diagnose or cure. As of yet it is not scientifically proven to be evidence based and as a result current legislation prohibits us from listing symptoms and conditions that are known to respond well when we follow the well-established principle of naturopathic medicine: 'That the body be treated as a whole, without referral to named disease'. ·

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What is the cost? £45 - 1hr Appointment. £65 - 1.5 hr Appointment.
Q: Do you have to believe in EFT in order for it to work?
A: No. EFT works whether you believe in it or not. It does not work as a placebo affect. Even if you are a hardened skeptic EFT can work for you.
Q. Will I be forced to confront my issues? I get uncomfortable just thinking about some things.
A: EFT is a very gentle technique. This is not a "no pain no gain" approach. We will not force you to go with your thoughts where you do not want to go. We will proceed in a way that is comfortable for you.
Q. Are there any negative side effects?
A: Not that we are aware of. However if you have severe psychological problems or serious mental disorders, and wish to use EFT, you should seek out an appropriate mental health professional who has been trained in EFT. You must take complete responsibility for your own health.
Q. It almost sounds like you can cure everything with this.
A: EFT has an impressive success rate, and we wish that were so. The EFT motto is "try it on everything" because it can work on almost anything, but as in medicine, there is no guarantee that it will. Also, we do not "cure" anything. We help you rebalance your system's energies, allowing your own natural healing mechanism to function as it was created to do. Human beings have a truly amazing capacity for self-healing when the system is functioning correctly.
